The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB has disclosed that over 1.6 million candidates were recommended for admission in the 2017/2018 Admission process.

This happens to be the highest number so far in recent years according to JAMB.

However, out of the 1.6 million candidates, only about 500,000 candidates have accepted their admission offer on JAMB CAPS while about 1.1 million candidates are yet to accept their Admission offer.

This was disclosed by the JAMB’s Head of Media, Dr Fabian. According to Dr Fabian, the increase in the number of candidates recommended for admission is as a result of the reduction of Cut-off marks as well as the introduction of the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS).

Dr Fabian also stated that despite the fact that the official deadline for admission was January 25th, 2017, the acceptance of admission is still available.

This means that candidates who are yet to accept their admission offer on JAMB CAPS can quickly login and do so.

All candidates who are yet to accept their admission are therefore advised to do so as soon as possible before the opportunity for that closes.

Dr Fabian equally stated that while some school have already completed their admission process, some other schools have not totally completed their admission process but will do so as soon as possible.

Following this, more names of candidates offered admission will be uploaded on JAMB CAPS portal in the next few days by the institution.
