Applications are hereby invited from suitably A qualified candidates for admission to the Doctorate degree, Master's degree and Postgraduate Diploma degree programmes of the University of Abuja for the 2023/2024 Academic Session.
The programmes are as follows:
A. FACULTY OF ARTS
1. Department of Linguistics and African Languages
i. PhD Linguistics
ii. MA Linguistics
iii. Postgraduate Diploma in Linguistics (PGDL)
i. PhD Linguistics
Entry requirements to the PhD programme are:
a) Master's degree in Linguistics and African/Nigerian Language from the University of Abuja or other recognised universities.
b) Submission of a proposal of at least 1,500 words of the intended research work along with the application.
ii. MA Linguistics
Candidates applying for an MA degree in Linguistics must possess a Bachelor Degree in Linguistics with at least a Second Class (Honours) degree classification (2:2). A Bachelor of Arts Degree (BA) in a related discipline, such as English language, Language/Communication Arts, Nigerian languages, French, German, Computer Science, Engineering and other disciplines, with a strong interest in language development, will also be considered, but must have a minimum of second-class upper degree classification (2:1).
iii. Postgraduate Diploma in Linguistics (PGDL)
To be eligible for admission to the postgraduate diploma programme, a candidate must hold a first-degree in any field from the University of Abuja or from any recognised University.
2. Department of Arabic
i. PhD Arabic
ii. MA Arabic
Admission Requirements
NBAIS, SSCE, WAEC, NECO and NABTEB in addition to a Master's degree in Arabic are required for those applying for a PhD, while a first degree in Arabic is required for those applying for Master's degree
B. FACULTY OF EDUCATION
Department of Library and Information Science
1. PhD in Library and Information Science (PhDLIS)
ii. Masters in Library and Information Science (MLIS)
iii. Postgraduate Diploma in Library and Information Science (PGDLIS)
i. PhD in Library and Information Science (PhDLIS)
To be eligible for admission to the Mphil/PhD and PhD degree programme, Candidates must satisfy the following requirements:
a) Five 'O'Level Credit Pass in Arts, Social Sciences or Sciences subjects, including English Language and Mathematics;
b) Master's degree in Library and Information Science from any recognised university provided the candidate scores at least a GPA of 60% and 55%-59% (for Mphil/PhD) in the final Master's degree
c) Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degree in Library and Information Science from recognised any university provided the candidate scored at least 60% or its equivalent in the final MPhil degree.
d) Candidates who have satisfied any of the requirements above shall have an interactive session with members of staff of the Department
ii. Masters in Library and Information Science (MLIS)
To be eligible for admission, candidates should satisfy the following requirements:
a) Five 'O'Level Credit pass in Arts, Social Sciences or Sciences, including Englishlanguage and Mathematics.
b) A First degree in Library and Information Science from any recognised university with at least a Second Class (Lower Division).
c) Candidates with Postgraduate Diploma in Library and Information Science with minimum pass at Credit Level.
iii. Postgraduate Diploma in Library and Information Science (PGDLIS)
To be eligible for admission, candidates should satisfy the following requirements:
a) Five (5) O'level credit pass in Arts, Social Sciences or Sciences (SSCE, NECO) which must include English Language and Mathematics;
b) A First degree in Library and Information Science from University of Abuja with Third Class or from any other recognised university.
c) Candidates from Social Sciences, Arts, Science, Health and Medical Sciences with First degree and a minimum of Second-Class Lower division.
d) HND with minimum of Lower Credit Pass in any discipline.
C. FACULTY OF SCIENCE
Department of Chemistry
i. PhD Physical Chemistry

D. FACULTY OF VETERINARY MEDICINE
Department of Veterinary Theriogenology
1. Masters of Veterinary Science (MVSc)
ii. PhD Theriogenology
Admission Requirement
To be eligible for admission to Masters of Veterinary Science (MVSc), Theriogenology degree programme candidates must possess DVM degree while candidates for PhD in Theriogenology must have MVSc degree from any recognised University in addition to the basic O'level requirements.

1. Candidates are to pay a non-refundable application fee of Twenty Thousand, five hundred Naira (N20,500.00) Only through REMITA via University of Abuja integrated portal https://www.portal.uniabuja.edu.ng
2. Applicants are advised to access REMITA through the University of Abuja Portal for record purposes
3. All prospective candidates must process a Transcript Request (Form A2) which can be found on the Application [email protected]. Evidence of processing Form A2 must be forwarded along with all Application Forms. Candidates are to ensure that Form A2 is attached to their Transcript of Academic records from their previous schools
